And today, on the 2nd of July we're having a Farewell Party for Katherine, Suvi and Anneli who are leaving Petrozavodsk tomorrow with great knowledge of Russian.

No sooner had the most students left Petrozavodsk than our friendly team of volunteers gathered together to discuss the plans on July, because very soon a new group of students will come to Petrozavodsk to enjoy Russian. We have prepared for them different activities so that they could spend a great time here!
On the previous week girls Suvi, Katherine and Elizabeth from Russian Language school “Enjoy Russian” visited the waterfall “Kivach”. The weather was great and girls enjoyed a real Kareian summer. And in the evening the students went to St. Petersburg where they visited some museums and saw the unforgettable sights.
At the end of June there were Farewell Parties for Swiss students. As usual they spent their last hours in Petrozavodsk in their beloved restaurant “Subway”, where all of them came with their suitcases. We presented each other small gifts, changed addresses and took a lot of photos. Besides, some host families came to the railway station to say good bye to our students.

On the 25th of June the Swiss group of the Russian language school “Enjoy Russian” got their long-awaited certificates. At the beginning of the studying the students made a “Tree of Wishes”, where they wrote their expectations for the following four weeks. During the meeting it turned out that most of the wishes have come true, the guys feel that their Russian has considerably improved during the program and they are really satisfied with the time, spent in Petrozavodsk.

Four members of the Swiss group from the Russian language school “Enjoy Russian” have recently tried rafting in Karelia. Andrey, one of the Russian volunteers, joined the guys to help them struggle with the severe Russian rivers. After the rafting the students had a picnic at the station where they could have a full meal with soup, the main dish and tea. So rafting was a real adventure for the guys.

Some of the students had a great fun baking pancakes with the Russian children. During the day together the students and the children have not only made a pile of delicious pancakes, but also helped each other to practice the language. Each member of the group enjoyed the time, spent together.

This week the students made colourful presentations about their native countries. Everyone has found an unforgettable, creative way of introducing the motherland. All the presentations were amazing and so different: about politics, geography, national cuisine, music, places of interest and so on. So there wasn’t a minute of boredom.

Our students had an unforgettable time at the international music festival “Vozduh”, which is held every summer in Petrozavodsk. Friendly atmosphere and loads of Russian rock music made a great impression on everyone, who was there.

Our students are having great time here in Karelia! There are a lot of things to do: to learn Russian language, to watch Russian movies at the cinema or to go to the museums to learn more about Russian culture, try Russian cuisine at National Food Party, walk round Petrozavodsk or see the sights of Karelia.

But probably the thing our students like the most is to meet with the Russian volunteers!
Last weekend it was sunny and warm so the students and the volunteers decided to go to the beach near the town. New friends played different Russian games, volleyball and sang songs while Andrey, one of the Russian volunteers, was playing the guitar.
Friendship helps people to communicate with each other in spite of they are from different countries. Our students and the volunteers have found the way to understanding – they all speak Russian!

Russian Language School “Enjoy Russian” welcomes new students, who came from Great Britain, Finland and Switzerland. Now we have international students’ team!

Yesterday the volunteers prepared Welcome party for the newcomers and today they’ll show the Russian language students Petrozavodsk and its amazing places.
Immersion to Russian life isn’t full without learning our culture. We have a great cultural program to offer to our students: excursions, going to countryside and to Russian banya and watching Russian movies with subtitles! At the week end the students are going to the Kizhi island and next week they will visit the famous Valaam monastery on the Ladoga lake. It will be a fantastic trip to one of the most beautiful places in Karelia!

Yesterday new students from Switzerland arrived in Karelia. They are young, full of energy and ready to start learning the Russian language at our School Enjoy Russian during a month. Most of them have never been to Russia before and they are so excited about our town Petrozavodsk and the School and their future adventures here. The Russian language teachers, coordinators and volunteers were glad to meet the new students and told them about the School, the courses and asked about their wishes and expectations.

By the way, the weather is fine and sunny now – it seems that even Karelian nature welcomes our Swiss guests!
