Recent week was full of events! Our annual international project “Mix of Cultures 2010” started on Wednesday. The festive procession (The "Caravan of Cultures") along Lenin avenue has opened the project with great success.

10/25/09 Last week our Center “Initiative” organized 2 arrangements.
The first one “Îñåíü.fi” was open for all people from Petrozavodsk. During this meeting Russian youth had a possibility to know more about our neighbor country Finland, to take nice pictures, to dance polish polka and to speak Finnish during language master-class Enjoy Finnish! Now we feel that Suomi is even closer than we suppose!
  The second arrangement was called “Swiss chocolate in Russian paper-cover”. It was organized special for children interesting in German.
  Our student Daniela (at the moment she is volunteering with children) prepared an interesting program for Russian curious children! We would like to thank Daniela for this funny Sunday’s day!

Autumn, nice time to analyze all the evaluation forms of our alumni!
Our students stay in Russian host families what help them to progress in Russian language in a short period of time. Some of the students and hostfamilies become real friends and continue to communicate after the program. We have chosen 5 best families. These are Moskins’, Osipovs’, Vereshagins’, Severovs’ and Prokoshevs’ families. These people were the real families for our guests and we are happy to cooperate with them.
Besides staying in Russian host families we offer students form Russian language school Enjoy Russian outdoor activities with Russian students-volunteers. These guys are very helpful and friendly. They are ready to spend hours with foreign students helping them, communicative with them, having parties and so on. The most active were 4 girls Ksenia (the big one), Ksenia (speedy), Katya and Masha! We are very thankful to the girls and they got scholarships for studying any foreign language at our Center “Initiative”!

Today is Monday and at the weekend we enjoyed wonderful sunny autumn days with lots of sunshine and colorful trees!
On Friday there was a meeting with teachers of Russian language school Enjoy Russian. All the teachers are very pleased with students who have studied Russian at our School in summer 2009! This summer both experienced and beginner teachers do their best to help foreign students improve their Russian during summer time. Elza Egorova and Evgenia Bevz turned out to be the most successful beginner teachers – our congratulations!

On Thursday we will have meetings with Russian students-volunteers and Russian hosfamilies who participated in our program this year.
This week we are going to organize summer up meetings with the hostfamilies, the volunteers and the teachers from Russian language school Enjoy Russian. By the results of their work during summer 2009 and according to the evaluative forms of our alumni we have chosen the best families, volunteers and teachers. Their names will be announced next time, now it is a big secret to keep the intrigue till the end. And today October, 5th Russia is celebrating The Teachers Day. On this day all schoolchildren and students congratulate their teachers (past and present), give them chocolate and flowers and thank for their work!
Of course we also congratulate all our teachers and wish them all the best in their great work!!!
