What would you do if you were Russian?
Do Russians laugh less than others?
Learning Russian in Karelia implies not only grammar drills or learning Russian idioms. One of the most exciting things for the students is diving into the culture and living for a while like Russians do. Sometimes the difference between people is on the surface while some features are hidden somewhere between the lines. Enjoy Russian school students can clearly imagine the way they would live if they were Russians!
“IF I WERE RUSSIAN” – the essay of Dominica from Slovakia
If I were Russian i would laugh for no reason less than I usually do, because my parents would have taught me the Russian saying «Смех без причины-признак дурачины» (Laughter with no reason is a symptom of stupidity“). If I were a native Russian, the pronunciation of a Russian letter «ы» would not do to me any problem and russian communication would be natural to me, everyone would understand me and i would understand everyone .
If i were a Russian i could see my favorite Russian musical «Стиляги» without subtitles. The russian version of me would certainly know the right recipes how to cook traditional russian meals for example Russian borsch for my foreign friends and I would try to make them familiar with “our“ customes, such as you don´t say «приятного аппетита» to your fellow diners when dining together. Even though i would have friends from other countries
I would prefer to travel the whole Russia instead because « наша родина» is very beautiful and thanks to well-developed railway system (Trans-Siberian Railway being the most famous example of it) we are free to visit even the most distant parts of it!
