Italians try Russian foods
Students of Enjoy Russian school visited the Northern cuisine restaurant
Lara and Lorenzo from Italy came to Petrozavodsk (North-West of Russia) to study Russian and compare two cultures. They couldn’t imagine that only after a few days in Karelia they would be able to try bear meat, elk meat, traditional fish soup and pies kalitki. Moreover, at the end of their visit to YAGEL restaurant, they got a special present from the chef. Let’s take a look at what they were eating and what the reaction was.
YAGEL restaurant. Where to find and why is it called that way?
YAGEL is modern and authentic at the same time restaurant in a very center of Petrozavodsk, close to Petrozavodsk State University on Lenina Avenue (if you go there from Enjoy Russian school it will take you about 5-7 minutes). The name is related to moss. Sometimes visitors ask the owners “Why, why YAGEL? Do you think we are deer?” And then they were answered that yagel was very important for locals, they added it to the flour and many other foods. This place is very popular among students (including foreign ones) and people who love authentic cuisine and pleasant atmosphere. According to flamp.ru Yagel’s average check is 500 rubles which is approximately 7 euro.
