LEARN THROUGH EMOTION, NOT THROUGH EXHAUSTION

Once students start the course, they get on an educational journey. Their first stop is the list of topics they are about to master. The next stop is recognition, that they gain knowledge of both language and culture. Try to answer these questions:

- How about trying on a new lifestyle during Russian class without leaving a flat?

- Do you want to understand political jokes and memes without waiting for them to be translated?

- Do you want to challenge yourself with the most difficult but not impossible grammar topics such as motion verbs, cases, or particles?

- Do you want to bring up your own topics to discuss at the lesson?

- Would you like to feel an international atmosphere when learning and make friends from Australia, Japan, or Canada?

If answers are «yes», you are on the right way. It takes just 2 hours a week to become closer to your goal and make your portfolio stand out. Choose the most suitable format and start the course now.

FAQ
What will I learn during the course?
If students start their journey as total beginners, they usually need 96 academic hours (12 months) to gain an A1 level. Firstly, they learn the alphabet and different forms of greetings, ways to introduce themselves and other people, describe objects' characteristics, their location. Secondly, they will be able to ask people about their daily errands, talk about professions, ask a teacher to repeat something, or slow down. The next step when they learn Russian for beginners is to name people and objects correctly, answer the question «when?», use adverbs of place and learn how to navigate the city or give someone a phone number. In the next stage students start talking about cases, seasons, months and places they live, work and study.

Another step is all about developing speaking skills and being able to explain yourself while traveling. What phrases do locals use to buy train tickets? To ask for some goods in the mall? To ask for help while looking for a tourist attraction? Students always try on real culture and see how locals live nowadays. Dialogues, discussions, and projects help to put all grammar rules, writing, and speaking skills into practice.

By reaching A2 level students are ready to expand the knowledge on previously learned topics. Each topic includes new grammar rules and vocabulary – foods, lifestyle, education, online communication. In comparison with A1 level, teachers add more complicated and tricky details, cases, transitive verbs, particles, etc. But even these topics work for the main goal of not just getting a Russian language certificate online, but make students actively speak, discussing politics, news, memes. Adverbial participles, cases, and motion verbs are subjects to be discussed during the last part of a course.

Language changes second by second, and the teachers want students to learn the up-to-date language. This is why the program includes additional topics such as swearwords, slang, or social network communication.

What are the main advantages of a group course?
Firstly, an international atmosphere. The School's students live in Australia, Japan, Sudan, Canada, and many other countries, and they always appreciate the opportunities to expand an outlook and talk to people of different backgrounds.

Secondly, lots of speaking practice. In parallel with home assignments, such as videos, listening comprehension, apps and games, articles, teachers include discussions, dialogues, projects into study programs and they are always ready to answer some questions or share the news on live chat.

Thirdly, the School's coordinators choose the group for a student according to a language level and age. This is what free Russian courses miss and it is a key moment of fast and efficient learning. It is as comfortable as face-to-face classes with an individual approach but also very dynamic and interactive. Each native speaker has his or her own manner of speaking. Studying in a group means getting adjusted to different paces and styles, which is crucial for communication with natives.

How will this course help me to make a change?
ü It does boost confidence, discipline and inner strength. The language is a challenge and school's students successfully overcome it. They have test throughout the course and see better results time after time.

ü It makes CVs unique. Not everyone can be proud of speaking such a difficult language, but all employers notice the «I speak» line.

ü It opens up new career opportunities. Even if full-time job is not connected with it people can still have extra money working as interpreters, translators, personal tutors.

ü It makes people see Russia today and get in touch with natives. Each step of the course includes speaking practice with people from Petrozavodsk and other cities. They all have different backgrounds and it helps to build the whole picture of who the citizens are.

ü The course includes minimum exhausting grammar, it is more about experiencing real emotions and being able to speak.

What materials does the teacher use?
Depending on a group level, teaching program is based on one of the «Поехали» study books. It provides students with both speaking practice (that teaches students to hold a conversation on such topics as family and home, work and free time, food and drink, plans and travel, holidays and fashion, and others) and grammar exercises. There is a vocabulary at the end of the book so students could frequently rehearse new words and phrases by themselves.

But as a rule, each textbook has something to add and reconsider. Natives create new words every day, social media give insight into new events happening around, and if one wants to learn to speak Russian as it really is, he or she should find a teacher with his own library of exercises and study materials. The course's tutors use flashcards, blogs, interactive guides, social networks, challenges, and marathons to spice up the study process. They also invite native speakers to join the class for students to get adjusted to modern language and different patterns of speaking.

The tutor is not just a bridge between learners and information, it also demands great creating skills to keep the attractiveness and suspense during the course. For example, one of the topics is devoted to personality, appearance, and characteristics. Teacher Anastasia came up with the idea to make one of the students in the group a Tinder CEO. A language learner had to find matches of characteristics and make perfect pairs. An interesting task allows students to get driven by the situation and speak freely without any doubts. Entry Russian test is the only formality that is common for all courses and teachers, creating unique programs for each group.

Is the schedule flexible?
Private classes with a tutor is always a roulette because learners might have two classes, then skip 4, then be on a break for 2 months losing their motivation to study day by day. Here it works differently. Since this is a group course, students always know the exact time they have to join the lesson and they are always informed about any changes in advance. The timetable is based on Moscow time which is UTC/GMT +3 hours and there is no clock change during the year. «I prefer study groups which don't change every week. 2 hours a week is perfect for me», said one of the School's students. Despite the fact each student joins lessons according to the plan, there is full-time access to self-study materials made by teachers and reminding a Russian bookstore online. Learners are also welcomed to ask any questions on social media to be discussed by other group members and teachers of the School.
