International Women’s Day, March 8th, spring holiday, day of beauty and flowers
All these names of the holiday might sound very strange for our students, but not for Russians. People in Russia love this holiday so much that have made up a lot of gentle synonyms. Springs in Karelia start with the first sunshine after a long winter and a plenty of flowers. Just look around – a young woman with roses in a queue line in a supermarket, an old lady with chrysanthemums in a bus, a little girl with tulips on the street. Men congratulate women, women congratulate women, even men in this fuss congratulate men.
How to celebrate, what to present?
As you can guess – flower is the main attribute of the holiday. There is a special flower – yellow mimosa, that stars only once this day during the whole year, or tulips of all colors. Postcards with warm words, chocolates and candies, cakes and pastries, so everything that raises your serotonin level.
As usual people celebrate this nice spring holiday in the family, gather all together at a festive table with champagne, snacks and desserts.
Frankly speaking, there is don’t have to be a special date to present positive emotions to each other and admire spring and beauty.
