One sacred place in Russian North where your phone starts taking pictures on its own
Vottovaara Mountain is located in Karelia, Russia. It is famous for its boulder-strewn landscape created by retreating glacial ice about 10 000 years ago and especially for the huge intricately placed boulders known as Seids. Some people believe the mountain was once sacred to the Saami people and the area is still surrounded by superstitions and beliefs in «the mysterious power of the Mountain».
It was discovered about 30 years ago and still catches everyone’s attention. Some people are ready to take travelers there while others strictly say NO. You may fall asleep in a second or start screaming at the top of your lungs. That happened many times with travelers. Stones are everywhere. Almost 1500 of them and when you get closer you notice that some huge stones stand on extremely small once. How did they get under? No one knows. The mountain is of high interest for UFO hunters.
Not a single bird, fly or ant. Just you and the energy of mysterious Karelia.
