Enjoy Russian students meet a real magician of metal
Have you ever been to an original forge? Last Thursday 4 students from Spain, England and China got a chance to have a visit to a forge situated on the Onego Embankment (if you have no idea where is it and never heard of Petrozavodsk click HERE). Despite the high wind and freezing weather, we arrived in an ancient fairytale with burning fire and twisted grill bars, innumerable handmade screws, lamps, just elements all made of iron.
Nikolai knows everything from Russian marriage traditions to smithcraft
A forge-man, whose name is Nikolai, created a really warm (in both meanings of this word) and relaxed atmosphere with traditional Russian and international jokes. We knew a few new things on Russian marriage traditions, such as to gift a horseshoe — to a husband, and a magic stitch – that is a forged fire rake — to a wife so that these extraordinary gifts to bring a prosperity and wellness to a new family. Our students have also tried themselves in forging a spear with a big about-sledge. That was at the same time challenging and funny.
If you want to practice Russian and acquire new skills you come to Petrozavodsk and our forge-man will always be there for you! As well as our teachers of Russian! Choose a course HERE
